Saarang is indeed a popular stage for the who's who in the entertainment industry and some famous names that have graced the stage at Saarang in the past include Sonu Niigaam, Shaan, Lucky Ali, Opeth, Uriah Heep, Parikrama, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shobana’s dance troupe, to name a few. Last January, the audience at the Open Air Theatre of IIT Madras was captivated and enthralled as the terrific trio of Shankar Ehsaan and Loy descended upon Saarang, before Hammerfall gave Chennai a taste of some true metal music. Saarang gathers a footfall in excess of 50,000 every year, while the shows alone see a crowd of around 25,000 in total.
Saarang 2011 brings to you some of the best names in the industry, playing live at the Open Air Theatre, IIT Madras for 5 continuous days of music, dance, glitz and glamour.

Saarang 2011-Rock Show

Rock Show at Saarang’11 brings you the Swedish metal band Pain Of Salvation live for the first time in India. Often touted to be one of the most innovative and original progressive metal bands around the globe. Their music is distinctive for its frequently alternating heavy and calm passages, combined with polyrhythmic experimentation and some pure guitar work. The band is led by Daniel Gildendow, who is the guitarist and lead vocalist in the critically acclaimed group. Opening for Pain of Salvation will be two of the most popular bands to come out of the Indian music scene in the past few years, The Bicycle Days and Nerverek.
