Kiran Bedi, Ph.D

Kiran Bedi, Ph.D, is India’s first woman officer who joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1972. Her experience and expertise include more than 35 years of tough, innovative and welfare policing. Dr. Bedi is one of the most celebrated and widely known police officers to have ever served the IPS. She was last posted as Director General, BPR&D (Bureau of Police Research and Development, Ministry of Home Affairs). She retired from IPS in December 2007.
Dr. Bedi has worked with the United Nations as the Police Advisor to the Secretary General in the Department of Peace Keeping Operations. Recipient of the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award (also called the Asian Nobel Prize), and several other decorations, Dr. Bedi is an author of several books, anchors radio and television shows and is a columnist with leading newspapers and magazines. She is a much sought after speaker on social, professional and leadership issues. She has also been a National and Asian Tennis champion.
She is the founder of two NGOs, Navjyoti and India Vision Foundation, which reach out to over 10,000 beneficiaries daily, in the areas of drug abuse treatment, schooling for children of prisoners, education, training, counseling, and health care to the urban and rural poor.
Kiran Bedi has been voted as India's most admired woman and fifth most admired amongst all Indians. She earned her Ph.D. from IIT Delhi, LLB from Delhi University, and M.A. in Political Science from Punjab University, India.

Prahlad Kakar

Prahlad Kakar is India’s leading advertising guru. Prahlad founded Genesis Film Production Pvt. Ltd. in 1977 and virtually invented television advertising in the country, after having assisted Shyam Benegal, one of India’s most renowned filmmakers. Prahlad has won several awards for technical excellence, innovation and creativity in advertising over the years in India. Genesis won both gold and silver awards including campaign of the year for the commercials for Pepsi at AAAI in 1996. The public films for Ceat won awards in the New York Festival of Advertising. Commercials directed by Prahlad have also been nominated for Lions at Cannes. Prahlad was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the IAAFA in the year 1999 and Genesis has been awarded the top Production House for two years in a row in 2003 and 2004 by Brand Equity.
Prahlad’s passions include his diving school in the Lakshadweep islands and his own brand of gourmet cooking. Has is a highly coveted speaker for forums on Media and Films and for various TV channels like NDTV, STAR TV, CNBC. Prahlad is also a guest lecturer at many esteemed Film and Mass Communication Institutes of the country like, FTII, Symbiosis, Sophia Polytechnic, XIC, NID and others.

Lila Poonawalla

Lila Poonawalla is known as the first woman CEO of an engineering multinational in the history of Indian business. Lila was the Managing Director of the Swedish group Alfa Laval’s operations in India from 1987-1996. She also served as the Chairperson of Tetra Pak India until 2000.
Her work in industry and in the community has won her several accolades including the Padmashri Award in 1989, the Best Woman Executive award in 1983, the Mahila Shiromani award in 1990 and the Royal Order of the Polar Star, Sweden in 2002.
Lila currently serves as the Chairperson of the Lila Poonawalla Foundation, an organization she helped fund and set up to provide scholarships to women pursuing higher study. She also serves on the Boards of several public and private companies in India including IDBI, KPIT and Neilsoft as well as educational institutions like IIFT.
Lila graduated as the first woman engineer with a B.E. Mechanical Engineering degree from the College of Engineering, Pune in 1967. She is also an alumna of the SEP Program at the Stanford University, Graduate School of Business, 1984.
